Report: Celtic to be rivalled by Brighton in chase for Tranmere Rovers' Max Power

Celtic have been linked with Max Power for some time, but they may have competition.

Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing Max Power from Tranmere Rovers, according to a report in the Daily Mail

Power is out of contract at Prenton Park in the summer and, following his rejection of a new deal, he is set to depart Merseyside.

Celtic have been watching his progress for some time, according to the Daily Mail, but the paper claims that Brighton have also joined the race for his signature.

Tranmere are still debating whether to let Power go at a cut price this month or to allow his contract to run down, as they will still be entitled to some compensation in the summer due to his age.

Power is just 21-years-old, but he already performs a pivotal function for the League Two side and losing a player of his quality midway through the season would be a huge blow.

He has already played 32 times this season, scoring 10 times, and he certainly appears ready to make the step up to a higher level.
