Everton star Kevin Mirallas has revealed to the Liverpool Echo what he tells Romelu Lukaku on a daily basis.
The Belgian has suggested that the former Chelsea star is playing with more confidence at the moment and is heading in the right direction, as he looks to score the goals, which will fire his team up the Premier League table.
“There is a lot of pressure on him, of course, but I think you can see he has more confidence in recent games,” he told the Echo.
“Everybody knows he is my best friend, on and off the pitch. He helps me every day, and I help him too.”
“I speak to him all the time - Every day I tell him to keep working hard, and to play hard, and the results will come for him.”
There is pressure on Lukaku because of Everton’s current position and the need for the club to climb the table quickly to start attacking the European places.
There is also additional pressure on him because of the side’s poor defensive record this season. Any side with a negative record at the back creates extra pressure for the strikers to score and get the team out of trouble.
Mirallas has to be praised for taking a common sense approach to the way he works alongside Lukaku, looking to get the best results out of his teammate.
He wouldn’t be helping the situation by creating even more pressure for his close friend and is stressing a line that manager Roberto Martinez would agree with.
Lukaku has six goals in the Premier League so far this season and he’ll be aiming to get well over the ten mark over the next couple of months.
