Manchester United transfer round-up: Hope over Hummels, talks reportedly start for Marquinhos

Mats Hummels Germany

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

London24 has reported that Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is making no guarantees that he’ll stay at the German club this month.

Hummels has been widely reported as a target for Louis van Gaal at United and someone who could improve the defensive part of the squad.

Hummels has backed himself to make the right decisions over his future, with quotes taken from Sky by L24.

“I have always decided not to leave. I think I have made some good decisions and I want to make those in the future as well,” said the German.

The Metro claims Manchester United have opened talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.

The national daily points to Le10 Sport in France as the source for the update, with United reportedly desperate to sign a defender before the end of the month.

Former Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has urged reported Manchester United target Martin Odegaard to move to the Netherlands.

Odegaard was recently courted by Real Madrid and has been linked with United, but Laudrup doesn’t think Old Trafford would represent a great move.

“If I was his father, then I would take him to the Netherlands, but I am not sure whether Odegaard will take the right decision,” Laudrup told Voetbal Primeur.
