The Daily Mail is among those to have suggested that the talented teenager is attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
Formal approaches have been mooted during the January transfer window, with Birmingham aware that they have a special talent on their hands.
They are understandably reluctant to part with his services, with Gleeson among those looking for the youngster to stay put.
He is, however, aware that there is only so long you can hold Gray back before he has to go and fulfil his potential at the very highest level.
Gleeson told the Birmingham Mail: “He’s 18 and he’s probably our biggest attacking threat at the moment. He’s a really, really nice kid. He’s laid back, he’s not loud, he’s not shy, he’s just a normal 18-year-old kid that loves playing football.
“He has got a massive future ahead of him, if it’s with this club or if he goes on in the next year or two. But we would love to have him until the end of the season.
“It’s really good to play with him, you know when you give him the ball stuff can happen. He is a joy to work with.”

Gray has netted four times in the Championship this season, including a hat-trick against Reading in December.
He is a product of the St Andrew’s academy system and only made his senior debut in October 2013.
Rapid progress has been made since then, with Gary Rowett helping to bring the best out of an exciting prospect for the future.
