Arsenal are nearing their first signing of the season.
Krystian Bielik is on his way to Arsenal for a medical, Legia Warsaw have confirmed on their official website.
The website states: "Legia Warsaw agreed to participate Bielik Krystian medical tests at Arsenal. 17-year-old midfielder will travel to London on Friday."
The 17-year-old Pole is a defensive midfielder who has already broken into the Legia Warsaw first team.
He has made five first team appearances for them this season in the league, and played in one Europa League game.
It is expected Bielik will go straight into the first team squad at the Gunners, who have fought off interest from Hamburg for his signature.
Bielik will become Arsenal's first signing of the transfer window, but whether the club need a more senior defensive midfielder will continue to form the topic of debate.
The teenager told Legia's website: "I'm going to London to make dreams come true. I hope that I will soon officially (be an) Arsenal player."
Of further priority to Arsenal should be their need to strengthen in defence, an issue highlighted by the recent injury to Mathieu Debuchy, and an early season spate of fitness issues.
Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo have been loaned out this month, and Benik Afobe was sold to Wolves yesterday.
