West Ham United will be delighted today after securing their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a tense penalty shoot-out win against Everton.
It wasn’t the ideal scenario for Sam Allardyce, who more than likely would have preferred a win in normal time, but the Hammers are through and still in the competition.
Here are our player ratings for West Ham from last night.
Adrian – 6
Didn’t have a lot to do for the majority of the match, but kept his nerve once the tie went to penalties.
Jenkinson – 5
Seemed a little nervous in terms of trying to get forward at times, which made the Hammers more predictable.
Collins – 6
Did a decent job against a very strong and physical attack. Could have also grabbed himself a goal.
Tomkins – 6
In terms of position his play was spot on. He rarely looked troubled.
Cresswell – 6
Was more willing than his full-back colleague to get forward, trying to make a difference.
Jarvis – 5
Seems to be struggling for confidence at the moment and he’ll definitely have better evenings at the office.
Downing – 6
Looked a little fatigued a times in the match and he’ll produce better performances. Will be disappointed he didn’t put away his spot kick.
Noble – 7
Excelled as the stand in captain. Looks so comfortable picking up the ball from the back four and then moving it forward.
Song – 6
Started the game well, but seemed to get tired quite quickly. Expect a full 90 from him in the near future.
Carroll – 6
In short, his performance should have shown more than it physically did. Hs presence was commanding as always.
Valencia – 8
The best player on the pitch for West Ham. Took his goal brilliantly.
Cole – 6
Revitalised the attack when he came on and kept his side in it during extra time.
Nolan – 5
Should have done more to stop the team from dropping so deep.
Amalfitano – N/A
