Suso deal prompts SkySports pundit to question Rodgers’ decision making

Suso - Liverpool v Wigan Warm Up

Liverpool midfielder Suso is set to join AC Milan.

La Liga expert Guillem Balague has questioned whether Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has shown enough confidence in out-going midfielder Suso, speaking on Sky Sports.

According to Sky Sports Italia, the out of favour playmaker is in Italy to take a medical ahead of his imminent move to Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Spanish U21 international’s contract at Anfield is to expire in the summer and he has seemingly been given the all clear to find another club.

Suso arrived on Merseyside with huge promise, and a successful spell on loan at Almeria last season enhanced the confidence and support shown in him by Anfield outfit.

Yet, while the Reds were struggling before an improvement over the festive period, the former Cadiz youth star was left to watch on from the side-lines as he presumably struggled to convince his manager.

But was Rodgers right to disregard Suso and leave him on the bench? La Liga expert Guillem Balague certainly thinks so as he questions the Northern Irishman’s apparent lack of confidence in the player.

“He has been at Liverpool, but I feel that surely he has not been given the confidence of the coach there. he answered while quizzed on Sky Sports.

“Now that does not mean that even if he had had that confidence he would still be a Liverpool player, we will never know, but without confidence it is impossible to show it. So the best thing for him to do was to leave for Milan.”

Suso only ever made 14 Premier League starts for the Reds and scored his very first goal for the club this season in a mammoth League Cup penalty shootout victory over Middlesbrough.

At just 21 years of age, the attack-minded midfielder has every reason to feel he has a big future ahead of him and signing a four-year deal at Milan should give him enough time to make a lasting impression.
