The Brazilian is glad the champions have agreed to sign Bony from Swansea.
The Ivorian striker looks set to complete a £25 million move to the Etihad and the Brazilian is pleased he won’t be coming up against him again.
Bony has managed to score three goals in his last two appearances against City, with one goal at the Liberty having seen him wrong foot Brazilian Fernandinho before going on to score.
Those performances were said to have impressed manager Manuel Pellegrini and those higher up, thus leading to them sanctioning a move for the Swansea forward.
“The manager and the people who work with him know very well what we need,” said Fernandinho.
“If it’s going to be Bony, then he’s a great player. He’s scored a lot of goals while he’s been in England, and also against Manchester City - so to have him playing for us will be great. We’ll see what happens.”
The midfielder was also keen to welcome back injured duo Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, hoping they will continue to score goals as City push to defend their title.
“We’ve got two strikers back from injury in Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero - we missed them while they were injured. But they’re back now and we’ll look forward to them scoring a lot of goals for us,” he said.
The signing of Bony is thought to have come after Pellegrini told the hierarchy he wants four strikers for the rest of the season, while anyone unhappy with the situation can leave the club in the summer.
