Report: Sunderland not interested in signing Spurs star Aaron Lennon

Sunderland had previously been said to be leading the race for the Tottenham Hotspur winger's signature.

Sunderland have no interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon, according to a report in the Sunderland Echo

Spurs seem to be ready to sell Lennon and the Daily Mail had claimed that Sunderland were at the front of a queue of clubs including Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers.

However, it would seem that these links were untrue, as the Sunderland Echo insists the experienced winger is not on Gus Poyet's wish list.

Sunderland are known to be on the hunt for attacking additions this month, but Lennon is apparently not someone they have identified as a target.

It means that the 27-year-old could remain stuck in limbo at White Hart Lane. Lennon appears to have little future at Tottenham, but there is a distinct lack of interest in his services.

Lennon will surely be disappointed should no offers arrive in the January transfer window because he must be becoming frustrated at warming the bench having once been so highly rated.
