Report: Aston Villa outcast Antonio Luna's loan deal at Verona to be cut short

Trinity Road Stand - Aston Villa

Antonio Luna has not played football in almost a year and is not featuring for Hellas Verona.

Aston Villa outcast Antonio Luna's luck is not changing, as it looks like he is about to be moved on by his loan club. According to Italian source TMW Luna's time at Verona, like that at Villa, is not going to last very long at all.

Aston Villa made a fair few transfer faux pas last season. Jordan Bowery, Karim El Ahmadi, Nicklas Helenius, Yacouba Sylla, Aleksandar Tonev and Joe Bennett did not exactly set the world alight.

Neither did Luna.

The left-back arrived at Villa last summer and started the season with a bang, scoring on his Premier League debut in a 3-1 win against Arsenal at The Emirates Stadium.

He went on to play 18 games for the club but mid-way through January he was suddenly dropped by Lambert. Villa brought in Ryan Bertrand on loan from Chelsea and Luna did not play a game for Villa since the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on the 18th January.

With that in mind moved on this summer, and in June Villa agreed he could join Serie A side Hellas Verona on a season-long loan deal.

He has not had it much better with the Italian side. He has not played a single game for the club and the report today suggests he could be moving on.

They even suggest the two locations most likely to be looking into him, unless Aston Villa want him back that is.

La Liga side Elche are said to be keen while Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb are also rumoured to be interested in him, according to the same report.

For Luna, who has not played a game since January 2014, first-team football must be the key.
