Leicester's Chris Wood would make the ideal addition for Leeds United

Leeds United should be trying to bring in Leicester City striker Chris Wood this month.

Leeds United should lodge a bid for Leicester City centre forward Chris Wood now it has been confirmed that they are not interested in Luciano Becchio.

The Whites are known to be on the lookout for a new striker in the coming weeks, but they are limited as to who they can bring in.

After being placed under a transfer embargo, Leeds are reliant on the loan market and, given that fact, it is unlikely that there are many potential options available to them as talented as Wood.

Leicester have already brought in Andrej Kramaric to bolster their forward line, while they are also linked with the signing of Shinji Okazaki by the BBC, meaning that Wood's chances of breaking through at the King Power Stadium look very limited.

As a result, he will be keen to head elsewhere and the opportunity to play at Elland Road would likely be one he would jump at.

Wood is clearly a big influence in the dressing room, having captained his country, and those are the sort of strong characters Leeds need to add to their squad if they are to avoid the drop.

On the pitch too, he has a lot to offer. Wood's scoring record with his previous clubs has been impressive in the second tier and the increased threat he would bring to the Whites' staring line-up could be crucial at this stage of the season.

The Yorkshire side are in dire need of players who have Championship experience and can also improve their starting line-up and, considering Wood fits both of these requirements, his signing looks like a no-brainer for Leeds to pursue.
