Davide Bassi is the latest player to be linked with Leeds United.
Leeds United have been linked with yet another goalkeeper, with Italian website TMW claiming the Whites are interested in Davide Bassi.
This report comes hot on the heels of claims from the same website that Leeds were tracking Chievo stopper Francesco Bardi.
The report regarding Bassi claims both Leeds and Championship rivals Cardiff City are interested in the 29-year-old Empoli player, whose current deal expires in the summer.
With that in mind, a move this month makes sense if his current club do not wish to lose him on a free transfer just a few months down the line. But the report goes on to claim that despite Leeds’ alleged interest Bassi would prefer to stay in Italy.
With Marco Silvestri impressing since his summer switch to Elland Road, it is interesting that a number of new ‘keepers have been linked with Leeds. But Bassi’s situation is such that he could be a cheap option…if an unlikely one if he really does see his future in his homeland.
