Former Newcastle player Mick Quinn claims Remy Cabella is more talented than Philippe Coutinho.
Quinn has suggested that the main difference between Cabella and Coutinho, who joined Liverpool from Inter Milan for £8.5 million, is that the Frenchman puts in the hard yards defensively as well as attacking efficiently.
“Remy Cabella should start studying Phillipe Coutinho at Liverpool,” wrote Quinn for the Chronicle.
“When the Brazilian first came to the Premier League three seasons ago, his undoubted ability was clouded by his lack of work rate.”
“Cabella played really well against Chelsea, not only in attack, but he got back to do his bit as well - Cabella has more talent than Coutinho.”
Cabella only signed a long term deal with Newcastle last summer and has taken a little bit of time to settle down following his move from Montpellier.
The Frenchman has been under a bit of pressure due to injuries to other players, but Cabella’s hard work rate does mean he’s well suited to the physical style of the Premier League.
Cabella can learn from Coutinho in terms of the Brazilian’s attacking talent, but what Quinn seems to be getting at is suggesting Cabella has a greater sense of defensive responsibility.
The Newcastle star was one of the only players to come out of the defeat against Chelsea, with few able to question his work rate and effort.
The trick for him now is to press on and maintain similar performances for the rest of the month and the season.
