Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has admitted that he wants to play in England in the future, amid reported interest from the Premier League.
When asked about his ambitions in the future, the 22-year-old admitted he is interested in moving overseas and to the Premier League.
“My dream is to play in England,” the holding midfielder told Portuguese newspaper Record.
“I know some clubs are interested but my agent Jorge (Mendes) is looking after it and I am relaxed.
“Now my mission is to work in Sporting and they will be in charge of any transfer and my future. That is very important.”
Carvalho rose to prominence last season in a Sporting Lisbon side undergoing something of a resurgence and was part of Portugal’s World Cup campaign as a result.
This season the former Cercle Brugge enforcer has played all 15 of his side’s Primeira Liga games, with Sporting sitting third behind Benfica and Porto in the domestic standings.
The midfielder has displayed incredible poise on the ball and is a key man in orchestrating his side’s possession, while also having the physical attributes and presence to act as a screen in front of the team’s defence.
