Gary Lineker has joked about the reason why Newcastle United appear to delaying their appointment of a new manager on Twitter.
Newcastle are still searching for somebody to take permanent charge of the club after Alan Pardew left, and Lineker has speculated about the actual reason it seems to be taking so long.
Brilliant tactics from Newcastle board to delay appointing their new manager so they don't have to buy any players in the transfer window.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) January 13, 2015
Pardew left St. James' Park to join Crystal Palace earlier this month, and the side's form since his departure has been poor.
The Magpies still have not won a match since Pardew decided to leave, and the uncertainty about the situation appears to have had a negative impact on the squad.
At the moment John Carver is in temporary charge of the team, but Remi Garde is reportedly the favourite to land the job on a permanent basis.
Newcastle had been linked with the likes of Anderlecht's Aleksandar Mitrovic and Burnley's Danny Ings prior to the transfer window opening, and it remains to be seen whether they will follow up their interest once the new manager is finally announced.
