Juventus have confirmed that right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner has signed a contract extension at the Serie A club until 2017.
Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has ended speculation surrounding his future after extending his contract with the club until 2017.
Lichtsteiner, 30, was set to be a free agent in the summer, and reports in recent months had continued to link him with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
With claims that the Swiss right-back had his heart set on a switch to the Premier League, it had been suggested that Juve would need to cash in on his services this winter after initial talks broke down, but the Italian side’s fears have now been allied.
Nevertheless, considering both English clubs appear well-covered at the position, the news does not appear all that devastating, although Lichtsteiner would have no doubt proven a solid addition.
The 70-times capped international has made 134 total appearances for Juve since signing from Serie A rivals Lazio in June 2011 for around €10 million, and has gone on to prove an integral part of the Bianconeri’s three-straight title-winning sides.
