Deutsche Bank sees challenges as it reviews strategy

Deutsche Bank - External

Deutsche Bank, which runs Europe’s largest investment bank, said challenges that cut into revenue last year will probably persist as the bank reviews its strategy.

'A mixed outlook for European growth, low interest rates and changing regulation have been some of the factors that challenged us and appear set to persist', Anshu Jain and Juergen Fitschen, the bank’s co-chief executive officers, wrote in a note to staff Monday.

Bloomberg News reports that Jain, 52, and Fitschen, 66, are weighing the next phase of the bank’s plan as they struggle to meet profitability goals.

Deutsche Bank’s reliance on debt trading has yet to pay off as revenue declined and requirements for buffers increased.
