It was a tale of two penalties for Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United over the weekend, with both sides failing to cash in on the chance to improve their positions in the Championship table.
Travelling Leeds fans were given the perfect start to the game when Rodolph Austin stepped up to slot home from 12 yards before experienced Bolton forward Eidur Gudjohnson did the same inside the 48th minute.
Leeds boss Neil Redfearn can be pleased his team put another point on the board, but it’s not the victory which would have made a real difference to Leeds’ position in the table.
The team now sit in 21st place, one position above the relegation places, just two points ahead of Millwall and staring at the very real situation of a relegation battle over the next few months.
There would have been hope at the start of the season that Leeds could compete for a play-off place, with the aim now more realistically for the side to consolidate ahead of a push next season.
