Video: Ex-Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou nets Ivory Coast winner

The Hamburg forward sealed the 1-0 friendly win over Nigeria for his nation, with Cheick Tiote with the assist.

Ivory Coast warmed up for their African Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-0 win over Nigeria yesterday.

Former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou netted the winning goal in the 84th minute, slotting home into an empty net after excellent work down the left flank by Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote, as can be seen below.

The Ivory Coast are in AFCON Group D and will face Guinea, Cameroon and Mali in the continental tournament in forthcoming weeks.

Kalou was on Chelsea’s books for six years before leaving Stamford Bridge to move to Lille in 2012.

He has since made the move to Bundesliga side Hamburg and has five goals in 13 appearances this season so far.
