One of the reasons why Paris Saint-Germain youngster Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this month is because of lack of playing time.
The 19-year-old midfielder is hugely talented and has a bright future, but at the moment he cannot get into the PSG first team on a regular basis due to more established players, such as Thiago Motta.
However, on Saturday Rabiot was handed a start against Bastia at the Stade de Furiani in Ligue 1. The youngster did give a good account of himself, but he failed to prevent PSG from suffering a shock 4-2 defeat.
Rabiot scored Laurent Blanc’s side’s second goal of the match in the 20th minute and attacked the ball in promising positions as the game progressed, but he failed to do much of note once Bastia went on a rampage, netting no fewer than four times to stun the Parisian club.
The PSG youngster end the game with a pass accuracy of 85%, four attempted take-ons, two interceptions and two clearances made, and 86% of tackles won.
The game against Bastia was certainly not the kind of match that Rabiot, who is reported to move to Tottenham on loan for the rest of the season, would have been wanting to feature in.
