Tottenham's for-sale XI: 11 players who could leave during next two transfer windows

Tottenham Hotspur Stands

We take a look at the massive number of players Tottenham Hotspur may want to move on.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to have a major clear-out of the fringe players in his squad in the next two transfer windows.

Spurs are expected to sell a number of players, as they plan to bring in upgrades to help strengthen their bid for a Champions League spot, and in this piece we take a look at a team of players who could all leave White Hart Lane in the year.

Brad Friedel

At 43 years old, Friedel's role at Spurs is practically a non-playing one nowadays. The veteran stopper is still signed as a player for the club, but his duty is more as an ambassador for Tottenham in the USA. Whether Pochettino will class this as an important job in the future remains to be seen.

Kyle Naughton

Linked with Leicester City and Swansea City by sources including Sky Sports, Naughton is likely to depart Tottenham in the near future. The full-back has never lived up to his promise in North London.

Vlad Chiriches

The Romanian defender doesn't look able to cut it in the Premier League. Not particularly physically imposing, he is also error prone and a departure is best for all parties.

Younes Kaboul

After being named as club captain by Pochettino, Kaboul was expected to have a hugely important function under the Argentine. However, a series of mediocre displays have seen him lose his place and he is reportedly up for sale in the January transfer window

Benoit Assou-Ekotto

The left-back is currently at Tottenham, but not even training with the club. There is no way he will force his way back into contention and he is in desperate need of a move.

Aaron Lennon

Seemingly out of favour under Pochettino, Sky Sports believes that Lennon's time at White Hart Lane is coming to an end. He has slipped down the pecking order and Spurs will probably be happy to cash in on him as they feel he isn't up to scratch.

Brought in for £16 million, much was expected from Paulinho, but he has failed to live up to expectations. A return to Brazil looks likely, says

Mousa Dembele

Dembele is unquestionably talented, but he doesn't seem to have a defined position in the Tottenham squad and his lack of mobility means that it is hard for him to fit in under Pochettino. Stoke City have been linked in recent times by the Stoke Sentinel

Cristian Ceballos

The youngster's exit from White Hart Lane looks imminent after his comments that he sees his future elsewhere. He has been unable to make the breakthrough.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Adebayor should be offloaded by Spurs in the next few weeks. Already a number of clubs have shown an interest in the experienced forward, according to the Evening Standard, but his wage demands are believed to have proved a stumbling block so far.

Roberto Soldado

The Spaniard who promised so much, but delivered so little. Spurs have given Soldado ample time to impress, but he has never made the grade and looks to have lost his goalscoring touch since moving to England.
