Report: Tony Pulis desperate to sign a striker and keep Berahino

Tony Pulis Interview - 23/02/2014

The West Brom boss says he would be delighted with another striker and a stay beyond January for the Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool target.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis admits his side are desperate to sign another striker this January.

However, the 56-year-old says it would make his day if the Baggies added another forward to their ranks as well as keeping Tottenham and Liverpool target Saido Berahino.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been continuously linked with a January move for the 21-year-old but West Brom Pulis says he would be delighted if he could sign a striker to partner Berahino instead of replace him.

The Welshman, however, admits the club will not turn down a 'stupid' offer.

“I’m not going to say we are not going to sell him [Berahino] because if a stupid offer comes in I’d look stupid," Pulis is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

“But we are desperate to get in another striker to go with him. If we get one and we keep him, it will make my day.”

West Brom's need for goals is clear to see with the club having scored just 20 times in 21 Premier League games so far this season - top scorer Berahino netting the majority of those goals.

Summer signing Brown Ideye, meanwhile, has frustrated fans with his contribution at the Hawthorns so far this term. The 26-year-old has only scored once since making the move to the Baggies.

Pulis's West Brom mission, then, is to keep Berahino away from Liverpool and Tottenham - and bring someone else who can score goals to the West Midlands.
