Queens Park Rangers defender Clint Hill's reasons for clashing with a fan after their 2-1 defeat at Burnley have been explained in a report in the Daily Mail.

Indeed, according to the Mail, the experienced QPR man was unhappy with the language a supporter used because there was a child near him.

Hill was involved in a verbal altercation with supporters and it took QPR midfielder Joey Barton to calm the situation down.

The R's had just lost their 10th away league game in a row - an achievement as unprecedented as it is unwanted in the Premier League - at Burnley and some fans showed their frustrations towards the players.

One of the recipients of criticism was Hill and he reportedly responded to a supporter in similar fashion because he was unhappy with the example he was setting for the child in front of him.

Arguments are also said to have continued after the game as QPR fans confronted the supporter who had argued with Hill outside Burnley's ground..

The Burnley defeat leaves QPR 19th in the Premier League table, while the victorious Clarets sit just outside the relegation zone in 17th.
