Liverpool striker Fabio Borini took a trip to Barcelona to see his former teammates.

Luis Suarez may be gone from Liverpool, but he still keeps in touch with his old pals.

The Uruguayan was sold by the Reds to Barcelona in the summer after a superb season at Anfield which saw the team come agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title.

Former Liverpool colleague Fabio Borini last night posted a photo on his Twitter page at Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium.

He commented: "A very big thanks @LuisSuarez9 for the tickets! Very happy to see you play and all the best!!"

The pair did not play in the same team last season as the Italian was on loan at Sunderland, but did play together during the 2012/13 season, which was disrupted for Borini due to injury.

Luis Suarez was on the winning team in front of Borini, scoring the second goal as Barcelona beat reigning champions Atletico Madrid 3-1.

Teammates Neymar and Lionel Messi also scored with Mario Manzukic netting for the away side.

Barcelona are one point behind leaders Real Madrid in the La Liga table, but Carlo Ancelotti's side have a game in hand.

Borini had earned his trip to Spain, making only his second Premier League start of the season, against his former loan side Sunderland a day earlier.

He delivered an assist in the 1-0 win, playing 67 minutes before being substituted for compatriot Mario Balotelli.
