When a dying Newcastle United fan's son tweeted Jonas Gutierrez and asked him to come visit his father, the Argentinian did not hesitate to respond.

In a tweet to Gutierrez, the son explained how the midfielder was his dad's favourite player and that he would love to meet him before he passes away.

It took Gutierrez no longer than SIX minutes to reply and he arranged with the fan to direct message him to organise a meeting.

An hour after the dad met his hero, he died. What followed was a heartfelt thank you from the son.

This is a cause close to Gutierrez's heart as the 31-year-old has recently returned to football after a battle with testicular cancer.

The midfielder underwent surgery in September and chemotherapy treatment, but he battled back and was back on the field just before Christmas, making his return for Newcastle's Under-21 squad in a League Cup clash with West Ham.

What a nice touch from both club and player. Gutierrez is already popular with fans and this latest gesture will only cement his place in their hearts.
