The former Arsenal boss who won two league titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup at the club thinks the club needs a new spine to the team in an interview with TalkSport.
He said: “All Arsenal fans would like to see new players right down the middle. They need a new goalkeeper, a centre-half and a defensive midfielder.
“With all the talent they’ve got in midfield, they’re up there with the top teams in the league, playing attractive football when they’re in possession.
“When they don’t have the ball, though, there are too many players who don’t want to win it back early enough."
Arsenal are currently in fifth position in the Premier League and are a point off the Champions League places but there remains question marks over the side going forward given that they haven't been able to perform at their best for an entire season.

The Colombian hasn't had much game time but could prove to be the man able to make that spot his own in the coming weeks.
Arsenal have also been without Laurent Koscielny for much of the season through injury which is one of the reasons why their back line has struggled at times this season, but there is a shortage of sufficient cover - while there is something of a perception that the midfield is not 'nasty' enough and could be got at.
