Ex-Goldman board member loses appeal over lifetime ban

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Rajat Gupta, the former Goldman Sachs man board director convicted of insider trading, leaving in place a lifetime ban on serving as an officer or director of a public company.

The rebuff came in the civil case filed against Gupta by the Securities and Exchange Commission, not the criminal case that led to his two-year prison sentence.

Gupta’s bid for review of the criminal conviction is still pending at the Supreme Court.
