West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino has told website London24 he doesn’t know what Tony Pulis is thinking in the current transfer window.
The England under-21 striker has been very open about his ambitions and claims he can’t do anything about the rumours, which have surrounded him this season.
“I’m just playing and enjoying my football. Obviously I have big ambitions but at the moment I’m a West Brom player, I’m enjoying my football,” Berahino told London24.
“I don’t know what he (Pulis) is thinking, but this time (the transfer window) is a difficult one.”
“Everyone is playing a game of chess so I’m just enjoying my football, letting my football do the talking for me and concentrating on what I’m doing on the pitch.”
“Obviously there are always rumours going around but, I can’t control that.”
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are two of the main sides reported to have been considering moves for Berahino, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the second half of the season.
Tottenham’s argument for targeting another striker is to try and take some of the pressure away from Harry Kane, while giving Mauricio Pochettino extra options up front.
The same applies for Liverpool with £16 million signing Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini proving inconsistent with forward Daniel Sturridge out of the team injured.
Berahino, just like any other player, will have personal aims but he’s made an England senior squad already this season so the emphasis is on the sides reportedly interested to make an offer and formally test if the Baggies are interested in doing a deal.
