Stoke City could not make it home and away wins against Arsenal this season, with Mark Hughes' side losing 3-0 to the Gunners on Sunday.
That result came just a few weeks after Stoke defeated Arsene Wenger's men 3-2 at the Britannia Stadium, but they did not offer the same resistance this time round.
Among the familiar faces was a Stoke debutant - Philipp Wollscheid - who arrived on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last week and was thrust straight into the action.
Hughes later told Stoke's official website that he had been impressed with the 25-year-old, saying, "I thought Philipp did fine."
As you can see from the statistics below, the Stoke defender had a passing accuracy of 82 per cent - not bad for an away game against Arsenal - while he made five effective clearances (four with his feet and one with his head).
Of the ground duels he contested he won five and lost four, while he was successful with one of the two aerial battles he had.
|Passing Accuracy||Effective Clearances||Effective Headed Clearances||Duels Won||Duels Lost||Aerials Won||Aerials Lost||Tackles Won||Mins Played|
In short, there is plenty of room for improvement but it was always going to take Wollscheid time to settle following his loan move; and when you consider the opposition at the weekend, Stoke's newest addition showed that in time he could prove to be a very effective option at a club famous for their solid defenders.
