In the summer there was something of an exodus among the defenders at Manchester United, especially among the veterans. Indeed three of the most senior player, including the captain and vice-captain, both left for Italy.
While Rio Ferdinand opted for QPR, a move which has so far been a disaster, Patrice Evra headed to Juventus and Nemanja Vidic decided to join Inter Milan.
The Serbian international joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer with high hopes of his time in Serie A.
But the former Manchester United skipper struggled early on in his Inter Milan career and has not discovered his best form for his new club.
Inter got back to Serie A football this month and Vidic played his first game of the year, his first for Inter since November.
And he also scored his first goal for his new club.
Vidic had a reputation for popping up with the odd goal while at Manchester United but Vidic's first was trademark Vidic, nodding in a close-range header to score the third goal of their 3-1 win against Genoa.
Inter fans will hope this is just the first of many...
