The good and the bad of Stambouli's latest Tottenham performance

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace on Saturday, but how did midfielder Benjamin Stambouli perform?

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli had to wait patiently for his chance to show the fans of his new club what he could do.

Having initially featured predominantly in the Europa League, the 24-year-old has now enjoyed some Premier League outings, most recently in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

While some Tottenham fans had been calling for Stambouli's inclusion in the early weeks of the season, others were not so sure; and it appears that loyalty remains split with some of the White Hart Lane faithful impressed with the Frenchman and others believing he is not cut out - at least not yet - for the Premier League.

Following Tottenham's latest match, we looked at Stambouli's statistics, and as you can see below there were both good and bad elements to his performance.

Stambouli's passing accuracy of  87 per cent was not bad - if not great - but his failure to play a single key pass will raise concerns.  As will the fact that while he was only dispossessed once he gave the ball away on 12 separate occasions.

The midfielder won nine duels, an impressive return and one that showed his combative qualities, but he only won two aerial battles and there are areas he must improve if he wants to be a long-term option for Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham have a lot of midfielders but the question is: How many of those players are good enough as the club bids to take the next step?

Stambouli has shown glimpses of the good and the bad in his game, and it will be interesting to see if he ultimately proves the doubters wrong.
