Newcastle United playmaker Remy Cabella believes that his performance against Chelsea on Saturday was his best of the season so far.
The 24-year-old France international started the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Visiting Newcastle lost the encounter 2-0, thanks to goals from Oscar and Diego Costa, but Cabella was pleased with his own efforts.
“I think my performance was good, probably the best this season,” he told The Chronicle. “I have to continue like this. I must work hard every day to repeat.”
Signed from Montpellier in the summer of 2014, Cabella has not had the best of debut seasons in the Premier League.
Hugely talented and versatile, the Frenchman has yet to score in the league after making 19 appearances in the English top flight.
On Saturday, though, Cabella was a bright spark for Newcastle and had a very good first half, but he faded away as the second half progressed.
However, the Frenchman ended up with impressive stats: three shots, 77% pass accuracy, four crosses, 16 take-ons attempted, 50% tackles won and two interceptions made.
Newcastle are not having the best of times at the moment and are stationed in mid-table. It is probably where the Magpies are likely to finish the season, but Cabella could be the one to push them up the standings.
If Cabella is able to maintain his performance against Chelsea and build on it in the coming matches, then Newcastle would be in a very good position to return to winning ways.
