Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to defeat to Chelsea in Premier League

Newcastle United supporters take to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

Newcastle United continued their disappointing start to the New Year as they went down 2-0 to Chelsea away from home in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Magpies headed into the game at Stamford Bridge on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

John Carver’s team were expected by many to lose to the Blues on Saturday and they duly obliged, as goals from Oscar and Diego Costa saw Jose Mourinho’s team maintain their strong home record.

The defeat has left Newcastle 10th in the Premier League table with 27 points from 21 matches, eight points above the relegation zone and 10 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

Newcastle’s performances in recent games have not been great, but against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the players stepped up their game.

Remy Cabella in particular was very lively in the first half, but the France international faded away as the second half progressed.

The Newcastle fans were largely pleased with the effort of the players and took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the defeat.
