Aston Villa are reportedly close to agreeing a five-year deal with the Spanish midfielder.
Aston Villa do not look in specific danger of relegation this season, but if they do not start to create more going forward that may change very fast.
That has seen them linked with plenty of attacking talent in recent times, including Adnan Januzaj and Scott Sinclair.
But reports this weekend claimed they were fast approaching a move for Carles Gil. As reported by the Birmingham Mail Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert wanted a player in by the Liverpool game in order to create some creativity going forward.
The 22-year-old was reportedly the target of a £3.9 million move for the player. Gil, who was a team-mates of current Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez during a two year loan spell at Elche, has struggled to get back into the Valencia team since returning from his loan deal.
So his exit has been expected and it looks like Villa have got their man, if you believe the words of Guillem Balague.
Sky Sports Spanish football expert has been on Twitter this evening stating that Aston Villa has agreed a five-year deal for the player.
All done between Carlos Gil and Aston Villa. 5 year deal and around 4m euros as confirmed by Spanish press this afternoon— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 11, 2015
Gil therefore could hopefully be in line for a game this weekend for Aston Villa, as Lambert looks to add creative nous to his team.
