The German World Cup winner and the Swiss international are now team-mates in Italy.
Firstly they snapped up Lukas Podolski from Arsenal on loan. The German World Cup winner had fallen down the pecking order at the club, leaving him despondent and constantly talking in the media about wanting to play regular first-team football.
After he departed he swung a parting shot at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, which has left a rather sour taste in what could have been an amicable deal.
They then moved in on Xherdan Shaqiri. Over the years Shaqiri has been linked with an abundance of Premier League teams. Like Podolski, he was too good to be sitting on the bench at Bayern Munich. Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United ... the list goes on.
In the end however it was Stoke City who pressed for him. Assistant Potters coach admitted that Stoke were interested in his signature and the rumour mill, including a report in The Telegraph, claimed that they were ready to make a £10 million bid for his services.
But last week Inter finalised a deal for the player for an undisclosed fee.
And Podolski shared this picture on Twitter yesterday of him Shaqiri in training for the Nerazzurri, welcoming him to the club.
Stoke fans were likely unimpressed by this fact but they can get one over on Arsenal loving Podolski today, by beating The Gunners at The Emirates.
