Arsenal face competition in their bid to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez, with the player’s agent confirming that a host of clubs across Europe, including Inter Milan, are keen to land his client this month.
The Express claimed earlier this week that the 27-year-old was a target for Arsene Wenger’s men as they look to bolster their central midfield reserves in January, but agent Manuel Garcia Quillon has confirmed that Suarez is in demand.
"There are many European clubs who are tracking the player,” the representative is quoted as saying by fcinter1908.
“In Italy there are three or four teams interested, including Inter, but in England he has been sought after by another two clubs.
“Are there negotiations going on between Inter and Atletico Madrid? Inter are certainly interested, but I can’t say anything more at this moment.
“Can Suarez move in January? Again, I cannot say at this time.”
Inter are on something of a recruitment drive in 2015, with the Nerazzurri already confirming the loan additions of Xherdan Shaqiri and Arsenal's Lukas Podolski.
The Spanish midfielder is a youth graduate of the Vicente Calderon outfit and has played for the reigning Spanish champions for all his career bar loan spells at Valladolid and Celta, and a two-year stint at Mallorca.
Suarez is used in a squad rotation system by manager Diego Simeone, with the likes of Koke, Gabi and Tiago as competition in the centre of the park.
He has only started six La Liga games this season, hence the speculation over his future, and it appears that if he is allowed to leave Atletico there will be no shortage of suitors in January.
Arsene have had some issues in the heart of their midfield this season due to injuries to Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini.
