When Harry Kane scored Tottenham Hotspur’s goal against Crystal Palace in the 49th minute, Lord Sugar posted the following message on social networking site Twitter.
Always a worry to go 1 up so early in the game. Other team get their spirit up to come back. We need a 2nd— Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) January 10, 2015
Some would have thought that it was strange to worry after Spurs had gone 1-0 up, but in the end Mauricio Pochettino’s side proved the former Tottenham chairman right.
Tottenham did need to score the second goal.
Given Palace’s position in the league table, one would have thought that they would crumble after a vastly superior Spurs side had taken the lead.
However, Alan Pardew’s team launched a stirring comeback and deservedly won the Premier League tie clash 2-1.
Dwight Gayle scored a controversial penalty and Jason Puncheon struck the winner in the 80th minute to send the home fans in delirium.
Hosts Palace were the better team in the second half and were more energetic after they had scored the equalier. Even Pochettino admitted that (click here to read that).
Lord Sugar does not always get things right about Tottenham, but on Saturday he did make the correct prediction.
Tottenham needed to score the second goal to secure the points. Instead, Palace stepped up their game and staged a successful comeback.
Just as Lord Sugar thought they would.
