Manchester United transfer news: 23-year-old defender linked; De Gea latest

David Gea saves against Sunderland

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has once again been linked with Real Madrid, with the Mirror claiming the Spanish giants want to sign him for £30million.

The latest report claims the European champions have contacted representatives of the 24-year-old ‘keeper as they seek a long-term replacement for Bernabeu legend Iker Casillas.

Until De Gea signs a new deal at United, these rumours will go on and on, with the Spaniard’s current contract expiring in the summer of 2016.

In other news, the Mirror also reports that United are interested in Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The youngster is enjoying an outstanding season at St Mary’s and with doubts remaining over the future of Rafael, the link to Clyne comes as no surprise.

United’s Brazilian full-back is prone to mistakes and injury problems and the likes of Seamus Coleman and Dani Alves have already been tipped to replace him.

But with Southampton flying high under Ronald Koeman, they are unlikely to sanction a move for one of their brightest stars, especially having sold fellow right-back Calum Chambers to Arsenal only last summer.
