A goal from Lazar Markovic just nine minutes into the match gave Liverpool a 1-0 victory against Sunderland on Saturday.
The summer signing from Benfica scored after referee Craig Pawson allowed the Reds to play on after Fabio Borini appeared to have been fouled just outside the box.
That gave Markovic the chance to slot home and the Serbian international was unlucky not to have more, as a later chance struck the bar.
Liverpool needed to get back to winning ways in the league after drawing 2-2 with Leicester City last time out, and they did that against a Sunderland side who had held the Reds to a 0-0 draw just a few weeks ago.
This time Brendan Rodgers' side got the better of Gus Poyet's men, who had Liam Bridcutt sent off for two bookable offences.
The hosts managed just a single shot on target and they will have to do much better in the weeks and months to come.
