Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker has revealed the nickname he and his teammates have given to Harry Kane.
The 21-year-old also has a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 53%, and he has won 44% of the duels.
Kane’s progress this season has been superb, and Walker, who has recently returned to competitive action from a long-term injury, has revealed just how much the players value him.
“He is on fire at the minute,” the 24-year-old right-back told The Sun. “He’s reminding me of Gareth when he was going through his purple patch a few seasons ago. Everything he hits seems to be going in.
“But fair play to him, he has put in the graft behind the scenes to get to this position. As with all players, it is your football that does the talking.
“He is still the same player, grounded and everything. He might get a bit chirpy sometimes but when you are banging in the goals like he is at the moment, you can do that.
“The lads don’t let him get too carried away. We now call him ‘Golden Boy’ but it’s all in good fun. He’s a good lad, he works hard and deserves all the success he’s getting at the minute."
Comparisons between Kane and Bale have been doing the rounds recently, and perhaps at this point in time it would be better to temper suggestions that the former could be as good as the latter.
As Walker says, Kane does not let all the praise get into his head, and it shows just how down-to-earth and level-headed he is.
The youngster has been in a truly brilliant form this season and has progressed much more than he would have been expected to.
The key now for Kane is to continue his development and better himself every day.
