Tottenham's six-game unbeaten run ended by 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace won Alan Pardew's first league game in charge, defeating Tottenham 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

Alan Pardew took charge of his first league game as Crystal Palace manager this evening, and was looking for his Eagles side to build on last week's 4-0 win over Dover Athletic in the FA Cup.

Unfortunately for Pardew, he was without his two star players, with Mile Jedinak and Yannick Bolasie away on international duty with Australia and DR Congo respectively.

Equally daunting for Pardew was facing Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who had hit six goals in his last seven appearances for Spurs - and the fears were realised when Kane put Spurs ahead just after half time, drilling home a superb shot from the edge of the box.

Palace looked like losing the game from there, but pulled themselves level with 20 minutes to play as striker Dwight Gayle converted from the penalty spot after Benjamin Stambouli had fouled Joe Ledley.

Pardew was the one celebrating by the end though, with Jason Puncheon smashing Palace in front with a well placed drive after Spurs failed to clear their lines.

Selhurst Park erupted at the final whistle as Pardew won his first Premier League game in charge, taking them out of the relegation zone and into 15th place, whilst Tottenham's six-match unbeaten run in the league has ended with this defeat.
