Arsenal goalkeepers have certainly been in the news this week. David Ospina looks set to become the Arsenal number one going forward after the antics of Wojciech Szczesny last week.
The Polish stopper had a shocker against Southampton in their last Premier League fixture and was then said to have a cheeky cigarette in the showers after the defeat, quite a shocking revelation.
But it is not just the two front-line stoppers who are in the news, two of their young keepers have either extended or started separate loan spells.
Josh Vickers has been on loan at Conference South side Concord Rangers this season. The 19-year-old has been excellent recently, filling in at Concord because of serious injuries to their former stoppers which resulted in centre-back Jack Lampe filling in. He has now extended his deal until the end of the season.
He is not alone. Matt Macey has also gone out on loan. Macey, the giant 20-year-old stopper who was previously at Bristol Rovers, agreed a deal to join Accrington Stanley on loan for a month.
He recently featured on the bench for Arsenal during Szcesny's suspension and Ospina's injury. He could have made his debut for the League Two club last night, but their fixture was abandoned due to a wholly unplayable pitch.
Arsenal will hope that the two goalkeeping talents continue to improve in their respective spells away from the club.
