Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marseille attacker Andre Ayew, according to a report.
Premier League outfit Tottenham are reportedly looking for a striker and have been linked with quite a few.
Ghana international Ayew is the latest claimed to be on the radar of the North London club, with Le10 Sport reporting that talks between the two parties have already begun.
The 25-year-old’s current contract with Ligue 1 club Marseille runs out at the end of the season, and negotiations over a new deal are not going smoothly.
It has been reported by the French news outlet that Tottenham have started talks with the striker’s agent with a view to signing him this month on a small transfer fee, but in all likelihood they will have to wait until the end of the season.
Ayew has been linked with a move to the Premier League for years, but it has never materialised. The attacker has a good reputation in France and is a key player for Marseille, having scored three goals and created 14 chances in 15 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.
A versatile player who can play anywhere in attack, Ayew could prove to be a valuable and cheaper addition to the Tottenham team.
However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs can get him this month. Marseille would not like to lose him on a free at the end of the season, but if they do not get him to sign a new deal, then they are set to do just that.
