Tim Sherwood has said that if he ever has the chance to sign any of his former Tottenham Hotspur players, then it would be either Nabil Bentaleb or Harry Kane.
Former England international midfielder Sherwood was in charge of the Spurs first team from December 2013 until the end of the season.
During his time at White Hart Kane, the 45-year-old gave chances to some young players, among them Bentaleb.
The 20-year-old Algeria international midfielder has now gone on to establish himself in the first team under manager Mauricio Pochettino this season, while Kane is currently one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Sherwood is delighted to see the two home-grown players make such an impression on the first team at Tottenham and speaks of them very highly.
"Tottenham fans have to love him (Bentaleb) as much as they love Harry Kane," he told Goal.com. "He will give everything for the cause.
"I have been linked with a lot of clubs and if I could take anyone it would be Bentaleb or Harry Kane. But they wouldn't sell either of them now!”
Tottenham are certainly not going to sell either Bentaleb or Kane anytime soon, but Sherwood’s comments about the duo highlight just how good the two players are.
Bentaleb has not always been helped by injuries, but when fit, he has shown his quality. Indeed, his performance in central midfield alongside Ryan Mason has been integral to Spurs’ high-pressing style.
As for Kane, he has been one of the best players for Tottenham this season. Scoring goals regularly in all competitions, the Englishman has been a joy to watch, his work-rate catching the eye of one and all.
