Stan Collymore: David Moyes perfect for Newcastle United

Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore says that ex-Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes is perfect for Newcastle United.

Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore believes that David Moyes should be given the Newcastle United managerial job.

Premier League outfit Newcastle are currently looking for a full-time manager following the departure of Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace.

A number of names have been mentioned, including Ajax coach Frank de Boer and former Lyon boss Remi Garde, but Collymore claims that Moyes would be the perfect fit for the Magpies

“David Moyes' stock is high right now, after beating Barcelona with Real Sociedad, and I think he's the right man to take over at Newcastle United,” the 43-year-old wrote in The Bleacher Report.

“He could walk into St. James' Park and have respect there. He would be a cracking manager if they went for him.

“If not Moyes, I also like Slaven Bilic at Besiktas. He's had chances before to manage in the Premier League but hasn't taken them. He's a great manager with a big personality.”

Collymore’s argument that Moyes would be good for Newcastle is valid. Despite the Scot’s disastrous time at Manchester United last season, his work at Everton is proof that he is a really good manager.

However, one has to ask why Moyes will leave Sociedad now and move to Newcastle. The 51-year-old was appointed the Spanish club’s coach only in November, and he has a project there.

True, Sociedad stunned Barcelona recently, but that does not mean that he will be willing to come back to the Premier League.

Slaven Bilic has been mentioned before in regard to Premier League managerial jobs, but he seems to be happy at Besiktas.

Both Moyes and Bilic are goal-oriented managers who want to take their respective teams somewhere. Their work at their respective clubs is far from over.
