The 17-year-old, who has been dubbed as a wonderkid, showcased just how much potential he has live on BT Sport against Manchester City, but failed to bring home all three points after the Blues lost 3-2 to a very good City side.
The game got off to a frantic start as Solanke netted his first just two minutes into the match. The pacy forward was able to jump on a defensive mistake by City before placing the ball brilliantly into the bottom left hand corner. However, the lead didn't last for long.
Talented City midfielder Brandon Barker broke through just two minutes later, wrong-footing the defender, before powerfully cracking the back of the net from close range. Thierry Ambrose then put City in the lead just before the half-hour mark with a composed finish from close range.
Solanke scored Chelsea's second and completed his brace midway into the second half through a deflected long range shot that looped over the 'keeper, but it proved to not be enough. Bersant Celina scored the all-important goal in a composed fashion, slotting the ball through a wall of bodies, earning the Citizens all three points.
After the game, although disappointed with the result, many Chelsea fans on Twitter unsurprisingly raved over Solanke, with one supporter labelling him a 'beast', and in his current form - 17 goals in his last 18 games - it's hard to see anything other than him becoming a world-class player on day.
