Italian newspaper TuttoMercatoWeb claims reported Arsenal target Mattia Destro has said yes to the possibility of joining AC Milan.
The Gunners were reportedly offered the chance to sign the talented young Italian in a deal worth around £15 million, but he seems close to getting his wish of staying in Serie A for the next phase of his career.
“Mattia Destro says yes to Milan. The AS Roma striker would like a change in air and is pushing for a transfer to the Rossoneri,” reports TMW.
The news may annoy some Arsenal fans considering the fee isn’t exceptionally high, but there is method in Arsene Wenger’s perceived madness.
The fact he’s just allowed Lukas Podolski to link up with Inter Milan shows that he’s not looking to make another attacking signing.
He still has good options with Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud, Joel Campbell and Alexis Sanchez all having played through the middle of the team’s attack this season.
Theo Walcott also possesses the ability to play as a main striker instead of playing off of either wing.
The trick for the boss over the rest of the season is to keep them all fit.
