The Swiss international has agreed a deal to move to the Giuseppe Meazza instead of signing for a Premier League club.
The Switzerland international was being heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool, while Stoke were also thought to have launched an ambitious bid for his services.
Shaqiri is set to spend the rest of the season with Roberto Mancini’s men on loan before a £12 million permanent switch to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the summer.
The former Basel star has flown into Milan’s Malpensa airport, where he confirmed to Mediaset that he was enthused about his switch to Inter.
“I’m fine, and I’m ready to play,” Shaqiri told the Italian media source at the airport.
“I’m very happy to be here, the Inter fans are wonderful.”
Shaqiri showed what he was capable of at the World Cup but has struggled to pin down a regular starting berth for Bayern due to the competition for place at the Allianz Arena.
