On this day: Gnabry linked with exit; £11m windfall for Chelsea on De Bruyne

On the 9th January 2014 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Chelsea, Burnley and Liverpool.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 9th January 2015, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 9th January 2014…

Gnabry on his way

Arsenal's young midfield talent Serge Gnabry was being linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund a year ago today.

The German youngster had impressed in his fleeting performances for The Gunners and earned comparisons to fellow Gunner Theo Walcott.

The pacey wide-man was being rumoured to be a Dortmund target for Jurgen Klopp by German paper Bild.

However no deal ever came to fruition. Gnabry is still at Arsenal but in the past year has suffered badly with a series of injury problems, greatly reducing his playing time at the club.

De Bruyne cash-in

It was a year ago today that Chelsea agreed a whopping £18 million fee with VrL Wolfsburg for Kevin De Bruyne.

The attacking midfielder, who had cost Chelsea just £7 million, had barely made an impact at Stamford Bridge byt was a big hit the season previous, on loan at Werder Bremen.

So Wolfsburg were happy to splash out on the player to the tune of an £11 million windfall for Chelsea.

Liverpool want to bring a striker Ing

Liverpool were being linked with a move for Danny Ings. Brendan Rodgers was said to be tracking the Burnley star, valued at £8 million by the ten Championship club.

Ings is no longer believed to be on Liverpool's radar, but perhaps he should be. The player is proving himself worthy of the Premier League and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City are keen.
