A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester United.
The Dutchman has been suggested as a target for United, as Louis van Gaal mulls over defensive additions before the end of the window.
However, a knee injury has seen him tipped to be out of action for around six weeks.
The Star also claims that Louis van Gaal is playing on Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga struggles to try and sign Mats Hummels.
The German defender has been a long term target for the Reds, with reports from Germany suggesting that he’s disillusioned by BVB’s struggles under Jurgen Klopp.
Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has described young striker James Wilson as a real threat.
Wilson has enjoyed more game time this season than he may have been expecting as United’s fourth striker behind Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
“He’s such a threat in terms of he’s always looking to run in behind. He's very quick and his finishing, while I wouldn’t say it’s surprised me, it’s just the consistency and how hard he strikes the ball and how well too,” said Smalling.
